The HSS planer blade is suitable for planing hard and composite woods using a planer blade head on a planer, surfacer, or thicknesser. Suitable wood types include chestnut, beech, oak, kauri, iroko, rimu or red pine, rosewood, Rio rosewood, Brazilian rosewood, ebony, African mahogany, Mansonia, balsa, nyatoh, afro-mosia, meranti, teak, limba or white frak, abachi, or obeche. The lifespan of this type of Tersa planer blade depends on the type of wood being planed.

The planer blades for the Tersa system are supplied in packs of 2 (packed per 2 pieces) and have a minimum order quantity of 2 pieces.
